Employment Background: From 1966-1969, Brad worked at his father’s Amoco service station in Topeka, Kansas as a mechanic. After serving with the US Navy as an Aviation Electronics Technician, he returned to his father’s service station in 1972 as owner/ manager. In 1974 he obtained ASE Master Technician certification. In 1983, Brad sold the business and joined the Kansas Highway Patrol as a State Trooper. From 1983-1992 he was assigned road trooper duties in Troop A, Kansas City. During this time, he became a driving instructor at the patrol academy and served as field training officer to three troopers. In 1992 he transferred to Troop G, Kansas Turnpike, patrolling between Kansas City and Topeka. In 1994 he was promoted to Master Trooper then became a certified radar and lidar instructor. In June 2000, Brad was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and assigned to Fleet Operations. Currently his duties include managing the vehicle resale program, writing vehicle and equipment specifications, developing policy and assisting KHP personnel and manufacturers with fleet issues.
Educational Background: Brad graduated from Highland Park High School in Topeka, KS in 1968. He attended Washburn University, Topeka, KS and Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ.
Hobbies/Special Interests: Brad’s interests include coaching youth sports, bowling, football, baseball, boating, motorcycles, muscle cars, drag racing, attending NASCAR and sprint car events and everything that includes his wife and three children.
