Employment Background: John has been an automotive technician for 37 years, primarily self-employed. He is an ASE Master Certified Automotive and Truck Technician who holds certifications from EVT for Police Vehicle Installation Technician, and Manager Level 1.

John was first employed as a Deputy Sheriff for Portage County, Ohio for 1 year. He then obtained employment at the Ravenna, Ohio Police Department, serving as a Patrolman there for 21 years. For 10 of the years at RPD, John was assigned Fleet Manager duties for the PD fleet of 30 vehicles.

In 2004, John was offered and accepted a position as a Deputy Sheriff, Mechanic, Assistant Fleet Manager at the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office in Chardon, Ohio. At GCSO, he was the second responsible party for a fleet of 81 vehicles and provided service for an additional 75 vehicles for various other political entities.

In April, 2015, John accepted the position of Fleet Services Superintendent for Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. At Kent, he oversees the fleet repair shop, all main campus vehicles and equipment, 39 emergency standby generators, and acquisitions and disposal of vehicles and equipment.

John was the Deputy Sheriff, road patrol, at the Portage County Sheriff's Office for 1 year and a patrolman at the Ravenna City Police Department for 21 years with Fleet Management responsibility for 10 of those years. John has been the Assistant Fleet Manager/Deputy Sheriff at the Geauga County Sheriff's Office for the last 8 years.
Educational Background: Graduate, Ravenna High School, General Studies. Graduate, Maplewood Career Center, Ravenna, Ohio, receiving State Certification in Automotive Technology Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM) from NAFA Fleet Management
Hobbies/Special Interests: John has been a NAFA Fleet Management member for 15 years. As a member of NAFA, he has served as Vice Chair of Public Safety Group. He also served as a member of the Education Development Committee ad was the Law Enforcement Industry representative to the NAFA National Board of Governors.

John is a member of the American Public Works Association (APWA) and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).

John enjoys traveling with his wife Karen, to warm Caribbean beaches and to Las Vegas. He also collects vintage petroliana (old gas and oil items), primarily old gas pumps.
