Employment Background: Matt entered the Michigan State Police in 1995 and has been assigned to the Rockford Post for 13 year. While at the Rockford Post, Matt spent 2 years on a multijurisdictional task force assigned to combat the drug problems in Grand Rapids. He also spent 3 years as a Trooper Investigator. Matt became a police driving instructor in 2002 and was temporarily assigned to the Precision Driving Unit for various terms from 2002 until 2009. At that time, he was promoted to Sergeant at the Precision Driving Unit. He has been a driver on the Vehicle Test Team since 2006. In 2011, he was chosen as a driver for the motorcycle portion of vehicle testing.

Educational Background: Matt received his pilot’s license when he was 17. He attended Jackson Community College and Western Michigan University to further his pilot skills before being accepted as a member of the 113th Recruit School for the Michigan State Police in 1995.

Hobbies/Special Interests: Matt enjoys spending time with his family and riding motorcycles.
