Key Standard and Optional Features
AdvanceTrac® with RSC®
Standard AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™ (RSC®) uses two gyroscopic sensors to monitor both yaw rate and roll rate. This allows AdvanceTrac with RSC to help you maintain control whenever it detects wheelslip, understeer, oversteer or roll motion. It also helps maintain control in adverse road conditions such as ice, gravel or rain. AdvanceTrac with RSC also features Curve Control, which will slow the vehicle down when it senses that it's going too fast for a particular curve.39
Trailer Sway Control
Standard trailer sway control (TSC) builds on the AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™ (RSC®) to help maintain trailer control through selective braking and adjusted engine power.34 The result is stability and control, even when towing large loads.
18-inch painted aluminum wheels
These 18-inch painted aluminum wheels are standard on the Explorer and Explorer XLT.
3.5L Ti-VCT V6 engine
The standard 3.5L twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT) V6 can be easily described in two words: no compromise. It delivers a 290-horsepower rating and 255 lb.-ft. of torque.
With conventional valve timing, the intake and exhaust valves have to open and close at a fixed point, compromising performance. But Ti-VCT virtually eliminates this compromise. With its variable control of valve cam timing, Ti-VCT can optimize performance across the entire low, mid and high ranges of the power band to match the driving conditions, all the while burning fuel with impressive efficiency.
