Employment Background: Art joined the Kansas Highway Patrol as a State Trooper in 1982. From 1982-1999, he served as a Road Trooper in Troop “B” Osage County. During this time he served as a Recruit Trooper Counselor in 1990 and Field Training Officer to three troopers. In 1998 he was promoted to Master Trooper. From 1999-2006, he transferred to Troop “I”, MCSAP, serving as a Technical Trooper conducting Commercial Vehicle Inspections to the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) standards. In 2006 he was promoted to Lieutenant in the Public and Governmental Affairs Unit, and in 2008, was promoted to Captain in the same unit. In 2010, in addition to his responsibilities with the Public and Governmental Affairs unit, he assumed command of the Patrols Fleet Operations. His current command responsibilities include a full service video production unit, graphic designer, publications writer, legislative duties, policy/procedure review/updating, and fleet management.
Educational Background: Art also is a small farm owner, producing corn and soybeans.
Hobbies/Special Interests: Art enjoys hunting, fishing, farming, muscle car restoration, and spending time with his family and hunting dog.
